Now days people get a tattoo for various reasons. A few people take them as dedication to art, some take them as a way to express their identity and enthusiasm and some take them since they look attractive. Tattoo is an awesome way to express yourself, but if you don't take special care of them, they can easily get infected. Here are some instructions to care of your new tattoo: 1. Follow the instructions given by your tattoo artist - After tattooing, your tattoo artist will give you information on how to care for tattoos. Pay attention to what your tattooists are saying and follow the instructions they are giving. All tattoo artists have their own opinion to care for new tattoos but there is nothing to worry about, most reputable artists have had a long time of experience in caring for new tattoos, so their techniques have been tried and tested. Keep in mind, if you change the aftercare for whatever reason the tattooist is not obliged to touch up your tattoo free of cost. It is your responsibility to take care of tattoos after going from the studio. Remember tattoo artists want your tattoo to heal correctly and look good just as much as you do, so they shouldn't give you any poor advice. The under mentioned instructions may vary slightly from what your tattoo artist tell you, but should serve as a good guideline. 2. Leave the covering on for few hours - After tattooing, tattoo artist will clean your tattoo area, apply an anti-bacterial cream and cover the tattoo with a dressing. When you have left the tattoo studio, resist the temptation to open the bandage. The bandage is there to protect your tattoo from airborne bacteria, which can penetrate through your broken skin. Before you remove this bandage you should be left for at least two hours. 3. Carefully remove the bandage - To remove the bandage, wet it with lukewarm water to prevent it from sticking to your skin. It should come off simply once wet. Remove the used bandage. Do not re-bandage. 4. Gently wash the tattoo - Wash tattoo with clean hands. Most tattoo artist recommend lukewarm water and mild, unscented liquid antibacterial liquid soap. 5. Dry the tattoos with a soft paper towel - Keep the tattoo clean and dry and avoid soaking it in water for at least a month. Once you have thoroughly washed the tattoo, you should gently pet dry with a clean and soft paper towel. Do not rub the tattoo, as this may cause irritation. Let air dry 10-15 minutes? Once your tattoo is fully dry you should then apply a thin layer of an unscented moisturising cream. If your clothes are likely to rub on it, keep it covered with medical tape. Generally, tattoo artist will advise you to repeat the cleaning process 3-5 times a day. 6. Avoid direct sunlight - Sunlight is the worst enemy of new tattoos. Avoid exposing it to direct sunlight unless necessary. The harsh rays of the sun may cause your skin to blister and fade some of the colors from your tattoo. For this reason, it is best to keep your tattoo covered and away from the sun for at least 3 weeks. So when it's completely healed, make sure it's covered in a high SPF sun cream. This will prevent your tattoo from fading in the sun, keeping the colors true for longer. 7. Be patient until you recover - Time of healing depends on how quickly you heal and how much the size of the design. If the tattoo is of a small size, then within a week it will be cured and if it is large size then it will be cured in several months. 8. Avoid wearing tight clothes - You aim to wear clean and loose clothes in the day and night, while your tattoo is healing. 9. If you need touch ups, you can go back to the studio - If your tattoo loses ink, your studio should retouch it for free. After about 6 weeks, go back if you need touch-ups on any area of the tattoo. Do not take advice from anyone else to care for your tattoo. You have only one chance to care for tattoo. Take care of your investment because it runs throughout life.
